Here’s a quick look at just some of the things that happened in a span of less than 24 hours of the 2009 NCAA Baseball Tournament:

  • The longest game in NCAA history ended when Texas beat Boston College 3-2 in 25 innings. The 7-plus hour game ended at just after 2am Eastern Time.
  • #4 seed Army beats BC 4-3 in an elimination game that started Sunday at Noon Central Time. However, Army then lost to Texas after a walk-off grand slam by Preston Clark capped an 8-run ninth inning to give the Longhorns a 14-10 win and the Austin Regional championship.
  • Less than 20 minutes later, TCU beats Oregon State 5-4 in walk-off fashion. The Horned Frogs trailed 4-0 after three innings.
  • Florida State scores the most runs in NCAA Tournament history in a 37-6 win over Ohio State to win the Tallahassee Regional. It’s just the second time in more than 30 years that as many as 30 runs have been scored in an NCAA Tourney game.
  • FSU’s 66 Total Bases, 15 doubles, and 38 hits are all NCAA team records.
  • Seminole Stephen Cardullo goes 7-fo-9 with 5 RBIs. It’s the first 7-hit game in NCAA Tournament history.
  • Another #4 seed, Utah, beats Gonzaga 9-7 to advance to the Fullerton Regional title round.
  • Trey Sperring breaks-up Arkansas pitcher Drew Smyly’s no-hitter with one-out in the 9th inning of the Norman Regional title game. Smyly settles for 2 hits in 8 1/3 IP, and the Razorbacks beat the Sooners 11-0 to win the Regional.

Western Kentucky overcomes a 9-3 deficit by scoring 6 runs in the 8th and another run in the 9th inning to knock-off Ole Miss 10-9. The two teams play Monday for the Oxford Regional crown.
