Previous top-50 team Kansas pulled off the upset at #1 LSU (11-9), as part of 10 upset losses suffereed by CB360 top-50 teams on a busy Friday that included six rainouts, 40 total top-50 games and seven top-50 head-to-head matchups (Stanford and Fairfield were the only CB360 top-50 teams not slated to play on March 12). #2 Virginia won 5-0 at #4 Florida State, in the nation’s biggest head-to-head matchup of the month-old season.

Illinois joined Kansas in posting a noteworthy upset (11-10, at #5 Coastal Carolina) while three teams reprised their Thursday results with a repeat upsets over the same teams: Pepperdine vs. #12 East Carolina (10-3), California at #23 Rice (6-4), and BYU big over #40 Washngton (16-4). Boston College added a shutout win at #12 Miami (3-0) and #46 Liberty had a nice win over #34 St. John’s (9-0), with the other top-50 upsets including: at The Citadel 4, #36 Western Carolina 0 … Samford 20, at #47 College of Charleston 13 … and Maryland 0, ar #48 Virginia Tech 0.

In addition to the wins referenced above by Virginia and Liberty, Friday’s five other top-50 matchups went as follows: #7 Louisville 6, at #18 Mississippi 1 (in 12 innings) … at #27 Texas A&M 4, #29 Washington State 3 … at #20 Oklahoma 16, #44 Mississippi State 5 … #33 North Carolina State at #9 Clemson was postponed … and at #6 Arizona State 9, #49 Auburn 8.
