Here’s an assortment of notes about drafted players in Omaha this week … also see lists below, sorted in three categories: highest-drafted players from 2013 CWS teams (top-10 rounds); 2013 draft picks sorted by CWS team; and those picks sorted by MLB franchise.

• A total of 48 drafted players are on the eight 2013 CWS rosters, led by nine from LSU and seven each from four teams (Louisville, Mississippi State, Oregon State and UCLA), plus six form North Carolina, three from Indiana and two off  the NC State roster.

• Exactly half of the drafted players in Omaha this week (24) were selected in the first nine rounds, led by 10 from rounds 1-5.

• The Detroit Tigers have the most draft picks (5) from teams in the 2013 College World Series, followed by four draft picks each for the Houston Astros, Minnesota Twins & Toronto Blue Jays. Three other teams – the Miami Marlins Pittsburgh Pirates & Seattle Mariners – each drafted three players from 2013 CWS teams.

• Nine MLB teams did not draft any players fromt the 2013 CWS teams: Atlanta, Arizona, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago Cubs, Los Angles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets and Oakland As.

• All three of Indiana’s draft picks were Minnesota Twins selections: RHP Aaron Slegers (5th round), 3B Dustin DeMuth (8th) and RHP Ryan Halstead (26th) … and all three are roommates.

• The Detroit Tigers drafted to Louisville players – RHPs Jeff Thompson (3rd round) and Chad Green (11th round) – along with two from LSU: RHP Will LaMarche (9th round) & LF Raph Rhymes (15th).

• The Houston Astros drafted UNC ace LHP Kent Emanuel (3rd round) along with his catcher, Brian Holberton (9th).
