Here’s a quick rundown of weekend results (May 2-4, 2014) for games involving top-50 teams in the CB360 Composite National Rankings.

Friday’s action produced 12 upsets in cb360 top-50 games, followed by 11 upsets on Saturday. The higher-ranked teams won at only a 63% clip on Fri. (20-12), improving to 71% on Sat. (27-11).
Seven teams already have clinched series upsets vs. cb360 top-50 teams: Kansas vs. (18) Texas Tech … Loyola Marymount vs. (25) Pepperdine … (48) Tennessee vs. (29) Kentucky (series over, Vols won 2-1) … Washington State vs. (38) USC … Florida Atlantic at (39) Old Dominion … Western Illinois vs. (45) Illinois State … and Long Beach State vs. (47) Cal State Fullerton. Most of these seven teams that have won/clinched series upsets have done so with the benefit of home field (all except for FAU’s pair of wins at ODU).
Six teams are idle are weekend – (1) Virginia, (13) Rice, (23) Liberty, (29) Mercer, (31) Indiana State and (46) North Carolina – while (49) Duke is back in action Sun. with a home doubleheader vs. Longwood.
