FARGO, N.D. – Jake Angier (ann-JEAR) has been named assistant baseball coach at North Dakota State. NDSU head coach Tod Brown made the announcement Monday, July 26.

Angier, 25, spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant at South Dakota State, where he played for the Jackrabbits in 2006 and 2007 before moving into the coaching ranks as a student assistant.

He joins Brown, assistant coach David Pearson, and volunteer assistant Kole Zimmerman in a full-time role as the Bison pitching coach.

“Jake has been successful as a player and coach at South Dakota State, and I believe he will be a great fit at NDSU,” Brown said. “Having a full-time pitching coach with his experience is a big addition for us.”

Angier helped develop two major league draft picks at SDSU – Caleb Thielbar in the 18th round in 2009, and Blake Treinen in the 23rd round in 2010. He also coached All-America reliever Trever Vermeulen.

A native of Bellevue, Wash., Angier began his collegiate playing career at Big Bend Community College, where he saved six games as a sophomore. At SDSU, he had a 2-1 record in 34 appearances over two seasons.

Angier graduated from South Dakota State in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. He earned a master’s degree in sports pedagogy from South Dakota State in May.
