Villanova Two Sport Star Talks About Football Title & Baseball Future

Matt Szczur was lightly recruited while attending Lower Cap May Regional High School in southern New Jersey, but he has blossomed into a potential pro in both baseball and football during his time at Villanova.  Szczur  was named both the CAA’s Offensive and Special Teams Player of the Year this fall as he helped the Wildcats win the FCS Division One Football National Championship.

He has three seasons of baseball and one more season of football eligibility remaining, but he’s eligible for the MLB Draft this June.  In this podcast interview with Collegebaseball360.com Editor Sean Stires he talks about the decision he might have to soon make on his future.

They keep trickling-in, and we keep trying to get them out as soon as possible.  There are now just a handful of 2010 schedules that have not been released.  Here’s the latest list we’ve been able to find along with season openers:

Jacksonville State:  Opens Feb. 19-21 in Lubbock, TX at the Red Raider Classic with two games each vs. Michigan and Texas Tech.

Maine: Opens Feb. 19 & 20 with three games at Lamar in Beaumont, TX.

New Jersey Institute of Technology:  Opens Feb. 26-28 at the USC-Upstate Courtyard by Marriot Classic in Spartansburg, SC with games vs. Butler, Dayton & Upstate.

UNC-Asheville:  Opens Feb. 19 & 20 with three games vs. Campbell in Buies, NC.

Northeastern:  Opens Feb. 26 in Winterhaven, FL and stays in Florida through March 6 with games against Games vs. Davenport, St. Bonaventure, Illinois State, Kansas State, the Boston Red Sox, Western Michigan, Villanova, Valparaiso, and Bowling Green.

Northern Colorado:  Northern Colorado opens Feb. 26-28 with four games at New Mexico.

Southeast Missouri State: Opens Feb. 19-21 with three games at Auburn.
