Elon registered the most noteworthy upset by winning 15-10 at #5 Clemson (the first home loss of the season for the Tigers), while the University of the Pacific – led by former big-leaguer and Stanford alum Ed Sprague – knocked off the #16 Cardinal, 9-4. Central Florida chipped in with a key in-state victory (6-3 at #20 Miami) and #34 Northwestern (La.) State won at #23 Texas A&M, 4-2, in a matchup of fellow top-50 teams.

Tuesday other upsets of top-50 teams included: at Arizona 10,  #29 New Mexico 4 … at Oral Roberts 7,  #32 Wichita State 1 … at Loyola Marymount 4,  #36 Cal State Fulleton 2 … and at Campbell 15,  #48 North Carolina State 10. Note that Arizona has vaulted back into the CNR this week (at #25), with the win over UNM not even factoring into that top-25 status.
