Vanderbilt Nets Top BA Recruiting Class

Commodores One Of Eight SEC Teams In Top 25 Rankings…

Vanderbilt has the top  recruiting class in the nation according to Baseball America.

The Commodores’ 13-man class consists of 12 freshmen and one junior college transfer and is headlined by right-handed pitcher Tyler Beede and catcher Chris Harvey. Beede, the only unsigned first round pick from last summer’s MLB draft, leads a group of seven pitchers including right-handers Adam Ravenelle, Brian Miller and Drew VerHagen with left-handers Philip Pfeifer, Nevin Wilson and Jared Miller. The position players joining Harvey, who graduated from high school a year early to enroll at Vanderbilt, are Connor Castellano, Will Cooper, Vince Conde, John Norwood, and Zander Wiel.

Vanderbilt leads an eight-team contingent of Southeastern Conference schools in the Top 25 with Ole Miss (5), South Carolina (6), Mississippi State (14), Florida (15), Georgia (21), Arkansas (22) and Alabama (24). The top ranking is the first for the Commodores since 2005 when Pedro Alvarez and Ryan Flaherty headlined the class.

Defending national champion South Carolina had Collegiate Baseball Newspaper‘s #1 recruiting class.
