Miami capped an already successful weekend by completing a series sweep of North Carolina on Sunday, with the Hurricanes (cb360 #13) registering the 4-0 shutout of #3 North Carolina. While most teams were idle for Easter Sunday, there were only 14 games involving top-50 teams from the CB360 Composite National Rankings – with the higher-ranked teams going 9-5. In other results of note, #4 Kentucky beat #14 Mississippi in an 8-3 series-deciding game while Alabama beat rival Auburn (cb360 #24) in a series-sweeping 6-2 game.  front-page photo courtesy College of Charleston

Two other underdogs won series-deciding games on Sunday: #50 Maryland 7-6 (11 inn.) vs. #17 North Carolina State, and Bradley 4-3 vs. #36 Missouri State.

In addition to Miami and Alabama, three other teams completed sweeps on Sunday in sweeps involving CB360 top-50 teams: #2 Florida State (8-4 at #28 Georgia Tech) … #19 Purdue (8-4 at Northwestern) … and #47 Clemson (4-2 at Duke).

Steven Ewing (Miami)

Three other SEC series were decided on Sunday, with #9 Arkansas beating #30 Georgia (8-0) while #10 South Carolina topped Tennessee (6-1) and #42 Mississippi State survived a wild finish vs. Vanderbilt (8-7). Sunday’s five upsets included the wins by Miami, Alabama, Maryland and Bradley, plus #49 College of Charleston winning its SoCon series finale at #33 Appalachian State (8-3).

#33 Virginia (4-1 win on Sun.) will be looking to complete its sweep of #43 Wake Forest on Monday.
