Three of the nation’s top teams were upset on Tuesday (each in 1-run games), as cb360 #11 Rice won 5-4 at #8 Texas A&M … the College of Charleston won 4-3 at #9 South Carolina … and San Jose State posted a 3-2 road win over #12 Stanford. For the third straight game, Virginia Tech (newcomer to the CB360 top-50, at #43) won in dramatic fashion on a game-ending hit – 4-3 over #50 Coastal Carolina (in 10 inn.).

Elsewhere, #25 Arizona State knocked off visiting rival #15 Arizona, 12-8, in a non-conference midweek matchup. In another non-conference rivalry game, #21 Mississippi beat #49 Mississippi State 6-3 in their annual game played in Pearl, Miss.

The six newcomers/returners to the CB360 top-50 include: #38  Oklahoma, #41 UC Irvine, #43 Virginia Tech, #44 Southeastern Louisiana, #47 Liberty and #50 Coastal Carolina (replacing Auburn, Belmont, Florida Atlantic, Texas State, USC and Washington).

There were only nine top-50 teams idle on Tuesday: #1 Florida State, #4 LSU, #10 Oregon, #19 Miami, #20 San Diego, #22 New Mexico State, #26 Oregon State, #45 Elon and #47 Liberty.
