Omaha Teams Comprise Top Eight…

DALLAS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continued its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 15th year with its 2012 weekly surveys. Polls were be circulated from Feb. 20-June 26, following the 66th annual NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb., at the second-year TD Ameritade Stadium.

The Arizona Wildcats (48-17) won their final 11 games, including ten in the NCAA tournament, five in Omaha and two to sweep South Carolina in the deciding series, to claim their fourth overall national title and first since 1986.

The poll voters came from 42 college baseball writers and related media persons from throughout the nation. This week’s final poll has representation by 12 different conferences among the 297 baseball-playing schools in the 2012 NCAA Division I ranks, and there have been 22 circuits or independents in the surveys this season.
