The Countdown Is On…

May is here! Most Division One college baseball conferences have just three weeks remaining in the regular season, and that means we are exactly four weeks away from “Selection Monday” for this year’s NCAA Tournament.

The majority of conferences around the country are shifting into high gear as the elite teams try to keep their high seeds for upcoming conference tournaments, while teams at the bottom vie to keep their seasons alive by at least qualifying for a spot in their conference tourney.

The four-team field has already been set for the Patriot League Championship, where both the semifinal and final rounds are determined in a best-of-three format. Navy has clinched the No. 1 seed with the regular season championship and will host No. 4 seed Bucknell, while No. 2 seed Army hosts No. 3 Lafayette in the two first round semifinal series.

Those series begin the weekend of May 14, with the winners squaring-off the following weekend at the site of the higher seed for the Patriot League’s automatic NCAA bid.

College Baseball 360 Co-Editor, Pete LaFleur, went Twitter crazy with conference standings late Sunday night. Here’s a look at how the different races are shaping-up, along with some weekend highlights:
