Tuesday’s typically busy slate of top-50 action featured several noteworthy rivalries, as: (8) Oregon won a “Civil War” game at (4) Oregon State, 6-3 … (41) Florida emerged with a wild 4-3 win at (7) Florida State … and (16) Mississippi State topped (21) Mississippi, 5-1, at their annual Governor’s Cup game played in Pearl, Miss. Tuesday’s seven top-50 upsets also included: Western Kentucky winning 6-5 vs. visiting (12) Louisville …. New Mexico taking game-1 of a doubleheader at (19) Arkansas, 3-0 … and Michigan‘s 4-1 win at (20) Notre Dame. In other head-to-head results, (29) UC Irvine picked up a quality win at (38) San Diego, 11-3.
Ross Mitchell (Mississippi State)
Wednesday had fewer top-50 results but still several outcomes of note, including Radford winning 9-8 at (6) Virginia to hand the Cavaliers their first non-conference loss of the season, while (43) Florida Atlantic won 9-0 at (24) Florida Gulf Coast and Savannah State posted a big upset, 8-1, at Big South frontrunner (33) Campbell.
Thursday’s lone game in the CB360 top-50 saw surging (41) Florida open its home series vs. (9) South Carolina with a 3-2 victory.
