Hawaii capped a busy opening day in Division I college baseball by rallying to upset Oregon, 4-3. The Warriors (#41 in the CB360 top-50) scored three times in the 8th for the win over the #11 Ducks, one of five feature games on day-1 between CB360 top-50 squads.

All but one of the teams in the CB360 top-50 were slated to open their seasons on Friday, although three of those games were rained out due to weather on the west coast (#8 Fullerton at Long Beach; Utah at #24 Cal; and Gonzaga at #32 Fresno St.). The higher-ranked teams in games involving the CB360 top-50 were 37-5 on opening day, with the other upsets including: Purdue 12-2 vs. #16 UConn (Dunedin, FL) … Oral Roberts 7-3 at #25 Baylor … and Mercer 6-4 vs. #48 Liberty.
In addition to the Oregon-Hawaii matchup, there were four other showdowns top-50 teams in the CB360 Composite National Rankings (CNR), highlighted by #13 Stanford‘s 5-3 win at #17 Rice, along with: #4 Vanderbilt‘s 4-3 win at #36 San Diego … #23 Georgia Tech‘s 6-3 home win over #42 Kent State … and a 14-1 rout by #31 St. John’s vs. #48 Minnesota, in BIG EAST-Big Ten Challenge action (Dunedin, Fla.).

The only CB360 top-50 team that was not scheduled to play on Friday – #44 Oregon State – is slated to open its season on Saturday, Feb. 9, vs. Gonzaga (2 PT; at Fresno State).
