LSU Two Sport Star Chad Jones’ father has issued a news release that says Jones plans to enter the 2010 NFL draft.

The release says Jones will select an agent and begin training for next month’s NFL Combine in Indianapolis.  He will forego his final year of football eligibility and his last two seasons of baseball eligibility.

Jones started all 13 games at safety for the Tiger football team this season.  His 74 tackles were the fifth-most by an LSU player this season.  The junior also returned punts in five differeent games in 2009, including an 87-yarder for a touchdown in a win over Mississippi State.  He had 6 tackles in LSU’s Capitol One Bowl loss to Penn State.

He was also a member of LSU’s 2007 national championship football team during his freshman season.

He also helped the LSU baseball team win the national championship with a College World Series win last June.  He had a 2.70 ERA in 9 relief appearances last season.

Jones is one of more than 35 college baseball players who were featured in the Collegebaseball360.com Two Sport Reports throughout the fall.
