Solid Slate Awaits Buckeyes…

Ohio State has released its 2012 college baseball schedule. The Buckeyes will open the season February 17-19 at the fourth annual Big Ten/Big East Challenge in the St. Petersburg/Clearwater, Fla area. Their three opponents at the event are yet to be determined.

The Buckeyes are in Atlanta the following weekend for a three game series at Georgia Tech and then they head back to Florida March 2-4 for games against Michigan, Western Michigan (2) and Chicago State at the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte.

That swing is followed by games in Myrtle Beach, SC March 9-11 vs. host Coastal Carolina (2), Marist and Toledo.

After those first 14 games on the road, the Buckeyes play their first home games March 16-18 with a three game series against Austin Peay.

OSU opens Big Ten play when it hosts Purdue March 23-25. Other conference home series are against Minnesota, Nebraska and Northwestern. Conference road series are at Michigan State, Illinois, Penn State, and Indiana. The Buckeyes do not face arch-rival Michigan in conference action in 2012.

The Buckeyes play two late season non-conference series in May. They head to Oklahoma State for two games on the 8th and 9th. They also host three games vs. Seattle May 11-13.
