31 Home Dates + Seven Games vs. 2011 CWS Teams Set…
Texas has released its 2012 college baseball schedule. The Longhorns will open the new campaign with a seven game home stand that starts on February 17 against Houston. UT-San Antonio, Sam Houston State, Texas State, and three games against Duke round out UT’s season-opening action.
The Longhorns hit the road for the first time when they travel to Palo Alto, Calif. for three games against Stanford Feb. 24-26. The Cardinal played three games in Austin last season.
After a home game against Houston Baptist on Feb. 28, Texas will play three games at the Astros College Classic in Houston March 2-4. The three opponents have not yet been announced.
Texas then plays a home game against Dallas Baptist on March 6. The Patriots advanced to the program’s first Super Regional last season. That game is followed by a three game home set vs. Loyola Marymount March 9-11. Texas State visits Austin on March 13.
The Longhorns open Big 12 play March 16-18 when they travel to Oklahoma. Other conference road series are at Kansas State, Texas Tech, and Missouri. Texas hosts Oklahoma State and Kansas in conference play.
The Longhorns will split two conference series with intrastate rivals. They will play at both Texas A&M and Baylor to open those series and then host games two and three of each series.
Texas will also play a four game series against Cal in Round Rock, TX March 30-April first. Games two and three of the series will both take place on March 31. The Golden Bears famously advanced to the College World Series last year and had their program saved after being told in September, 2010 that the program would be eliminated.
