Goose Kallunki (Utah Valley)
Utah Valley had to rally in its first game of a doubleheader at New York Tech, but the Wolverines went on to sweep those games while extending its winnings streak to 31 games (three shy of tying the NCAA record, 6th all-time and best since ’99). UVU hitting star – and all-name-team member – Goose Kallunki did not start the 7-inning opener at New York Tech (due to back spasms), but he saved the streak with a pinch-hit, game-tying single and then scored the eventual winning run in the top of the 7th (and final) frame.
Texas A&M is taking a week off from Big 12 play but still produce a noteworthy result on Saturday, as senior RHP Ross Stripling tossed a no-hitter while facing the minimum 27 batters in a 1-0 thriller vs. San Diego State.
