Five teams have entered/returned to the Top–50 in the current update: [35] Old Dominion, [38] Texas, [42] Wright State and [48] Mississippi State (all but ODU were in the top-50 earlier this season) … while [31] Southeastern Louisiana, [43] Washington, [47] Sam Houston State and [49] Louisiana-Lafayette have fallen out of the top-50.
The current CB360 Composite top-10 includes teams from five different conferences, led by the ACC with three top-10 teams (#3 UNC, #4 Louisville & #5 Clemson), plus the Pac-12’s [1] Oregon State and [9] Arizona, the Big 12’s [2] Texas Tech and [8] TCU, along with [6] South Carolina (SEC), [7] Florida Gulf Coast (Atlantic Sun) and [10] St. John’s (Big East).
FGCU and St. John’s were not even among the CNR preseason top–50, but each has fashioned an impressive first half of the 2017 season, as have six other current top-25 teams that were nowhere in the preseason top-50: [12] Kentucky, [14] Oklahoma, [16] Wake Forest, [17] Arkansas, [20] South Florida and [24] Missouri. Texas Tech has climbed into #2 spot the past couple weeks after opening the season at No. 21 in the CNR, while the other six current top-10 teams all were 13th or better in the preseason top–50. … On the flip side, three preseason top–10 teams have tumbled significantly: Coastal Carolina (CNR preseason #9; now out of the top-50) … Vanderbilt (started at #4; now #26) … and Florida (#2 to #23).
In addition to Coastal Carolina, five other teams that opened the season among the top-25 in the CNR already have tumbled out of the top-50: [14] NC State, [17] Louisiana (Lafayette), [19] Miami, [23] UCSB and [24] Washington.
One week earlier, in the March 23 update, the following five teams entered/returned to the CB360 Top–50: [30] Auburn, [34] Mercer, [38] West Virginia, [44] Wright State and [47] Sam Houston State … And these five had fallen out of the Top–50: [31] Southeastern Louisiana, [43] Washington, [47] Sam Houston State and [49] Louisiana-Lafayette.
