Scores & More Presented By Baseballtips.com …

There was some bonus baseball at a couple SEC venues on Friday, highlighting the day’s action among top-50 teams in the CB360 Composite National Rankings. #4 LSU rode a couple clutch hits from Grant Dozar to post its 10th 1-run win in SEC play this season (4-3 at #21 Mississippi, in 13), while #6 South Carolina came all the way back from an early 6-0 deficit to win, 8-6, at #15 Arkansas. Of the 27 top-50 games that were played on Friday (two were suspended), underdogs won roughly one-fourth of them (6). See below for plenty of offerings from CB360’s expanded top-50 Gameday Scoreboard.  front-page photo courtesy of LSU

The day’s biggest upset came in a crosstown rivalry, as Houston ran past #10 Rice, 11-6. #20 San Digo won again at BYU, 13-2, for a key win with hard-charging San Francisco trying to move up the jumbled WCC standings (the Dons won 7-2 at #32 Pepperdine). There was another upset in the WCC, as Saint Mary’s topped slumping #37 Gonzaga, 6-4.

The day’s other upsets included Oklahoma State opening the Bedlam rivalry series with a 3-0 win over #45 Oklahoma (in Tulsa), the Cowboys second win over the Sooners during the past 10 days. Towson posted a 3-1 win over Colonial Athletic Association leader #47 UNC Wilmington, possibly opening the door for title contender Hofstra. And, late out in the islands, Hawaii blew past #24 New Mexico State in a 7-inning, run-rule game (14-2) that leaves those teams tied atop the WAC standings (Hawaii earlier won the series opener on Thursday).

In addition to games already mentioned, other head-to-head results between CB360 top-50 teams included #3 Florida clinching its series at #5 Kentucky (5-1) and#42 Georgia topping #48 Auburn (5-2), plus a couple key results out of the Pac-12 – as #12 Oregon opened the showdown series at #13 Arizona with a 6-1 win and #7 Stanford won 8-2 at #26 Oregon State (that game was 0-0 until the Ducks scored twice in the 7th).

Friday’s 29 top-50 results are listed below, with an assortment of postgame links to be added later in the day. Thursday’s three top-50 results are listed at the bottom of this page (with links).

A special dedicated Twitter feed (see below) also is included below, featuring team tweets from top-50 teams playing head-to-head and from the “Bakers dozen” top-13 …
