The Stetson Hatters picked up a big boost to their RPI and NCAA at-large hopes on Wednesday, after holding on for a 6-5 win over visiting top-ranked Florida State. There were two other upsets on Wednesday in games involving top-50 teams in the CB360 Composite National Rankings (two other games were rained out and another suspended in-game).  front-page photo courtesy of Stetson

Wednesday’s other top-50 upsets included Missouri beating #31 Missouri State 10-5 (to sweep their two midweek games this season), while Michigan earned a split of its 2-game series vs. visiting #27 Coastal Carolina (5-2). There was one head-to-head top-50 game on Wed., as #36 Georgia Tech reprised its recent rivalry-series win over Georgia (current #39) by holding off the Bulldogs in another close game, 8-6.

The six newcomers/returners to the CB360 top-50 are #44 Washington, #45 St. John’s, #46 Tulane, #48 Utah Valley, #49 Long Beach State  and #50 Michigan State – with Maryland, Wake Forest, Oklahoma, Elon and Auburn slipping outside the top-50 in the current CNR update.

The 16 elements that now comprise the formula for the CB360 Composite National Rankings include six national polls, six RPI-type listings and four projections of the 64-team NCAA field.

Here’s a quick look at the updated CB360 top-50 (full release coming later in the week), with 34 of these teams idle on Wednesday (note that one of the CNR elements was released a bit later than normal but now has been added to the formula, resulting in some slight shifts to the original top-50 update) …
